So in an ODR system, parties interact through an online platform, and the mediator is usually, a patented software, also known as an, e negotiation system, ENS, that follows predetermined sets of rules, embodied, in a mechanized algorithm.

02:10 - So there are currently over 140 ODR platforms operating worldwide. and to mention, some, famous prominent ones are like smart saddle, square trade, cyber saddle. These are like the oldest and probably, the most prominent ones. and it is currently estimated that e-commerce platforms like eBay, PayPal, Uber, Amazon, they resolve more than a billion disputes, annually.

03:03 - One key motivation for this is the existing system. So when we, analyze the existing ODR systems, the problem is that they are lacking fundamental economic principles. In particular, they do not take parties strategic considerations into account. the algorithms that they have engineered are designed based on the presumption that the disputes are going to truthfully reveal,

So all of these issues set the stage for the approach that we take, in our work, namely achieving immunity to gaming through strategic proof, through strategic proofness, by pausing the problem,
