The Idea and Image of Historical Time: Interactions between Design and Digital Humanities

Stephen Boyd David explores the interaction between designers and humanists in the context of our work on time-wise visualisations for research in digital cultural collections. The digital humanities have introduced humanities researchers to ‘making’ as a method for knowledge production, as well as to the idea of visualisations as research outputs, which is leading to increasing collaboration and cross-fertilisation between the fields of design and humanities.
