How SAGE works

SAGE, the Science Advisory Group for Emergencies, is a formal part of the UK government’s emergency response structure and a subcommittee of COBR (Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms). Professor Sir Ian Boyd was Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Government on Food and the Environment, a post he held for seven years, and is currently a professor at the University of St Andrews. He is currently the Chairman of the UK Research Integrity Office and has been a member of the SAGE committee during the COVID-19 pandemic.
