Location-Independent Organizations: Designing Collaboration

When work is scattered, organizations need collaboration. According to research, businesses adapt to distributed work by reorganizing tasks, lowering complexity, or accepting modest inefficiencies. However, some organizations work remotely, cooperate, and collaborate in real-time. Two collaboration patterns for asynchronous companies were discovered in a recent multiple-case study. This research illuminates distributed organizational collaboration and the future of work.
