Synthetic-Bioinformatic Natural Product Antibiotics

John Chu (朱忠瀚) discusses his work on structural information encoded in this resource using a synthetic-bioinformatic natural product (syn-BNP) approach, which relies on bioinformatic algorithms followed by chemical synthesis to predict and then produce small molecules inspired by biosynthetic gene clusters.

  1. Prof. Chu, your work is really exciting. I am also working on similar lines for development of insecticidal genes (Cry genes) which must have better insecticidal activity against Bt-resistant insects at University of Agriculture Faisalabad. However, I do not have knowledge of designing algorithms that’s why I have to rely on already available softwares.
Good to know about your exciting work.
    Good luck.
