Promoting students’ voices in schools

After gaining a BSc in Applied Microbiology, Louise Brown worked as a medical researcher at St George’s Hospital Medical School (University of London). She spent five years investigating immune system responses to the coat protein of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, publishing her research in the Journal of Immunological Methods and AIDS. For eighteen years Louise taught in comprehensive and grammar, single-sex and co-educational secondary schools in Essex. During her teaching career Louise was a subject leader, co-ordinator of school-based initial teacher training and a STEM lead practitioner. Louise’s research interests have evolved from her experience as a classroom teacher and STEM lead practitioner.
