Subnational response differences on the Belt and Road Initiative policy and firm internationalization

China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI) has been regarded as an important measure of all-round opening-up in the new era. However, in practice, the level of internationalization differs significantly across firms located in different Chinese provinces. Artemis Chang discusses quantitative measures of formal and informal provincial policy responses to the BRI and tested their impact on firm internationalization in a multi-level design with panel data.
