Author preferences for open access in Portugal: survey

A study surveyed authors at Portuguese doctoral-granting institutions to determine their preferences for open access publishing. The majority of researchers were aware of the benefits of open access and regularly published in open access journals or repositories. The response rate was relatively low at 16.7% of potential respondents, limiting the generalizability of the findings. This is the first study of its kind conducted among Portuguese authors in higher education institutions. The results can inform the development of open access outreach and implementation services in Portuguese universities.
