They have actively advocated for reducing mandatory minimum sentences, improving prison conditions, and addressing excessive fines and fees. However, the future of criminal justice reform within conservatism remains uncertain. This review explores the integration of criminal justice reform in conservative politics, examines its resilience in the face of rising crime rates and progressive demands, and proposes principles for a sustained commitment to a fair and proportional criminal justice system.
