A research analyzed disability statistics from censuses in Sweden between 1860 and 1930. The prevalence of disabilities during this period showed a significant increase.
Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to gather, categorize, and define impairments. The research attributed the growth in disability to new government data collection methods.
Additional sources, expanded definitions, and new categories were used. Normative disability classification and social and political circumstances affected the swings over time.
