Age Impact on Acetabular Microfracture in FAI Surgery

Recommend Faculti to your resource manager

A prospective multicenter cohort study evaluated the clinical outcomes of acetabular microfracture during surgical treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). The study included patients with FAI who had failed nonoperative management. Patients who underwent microfracture showed improved short- to mid-term results but were more likely to undergo total hip arthroplasty (THA). Microfracture appeared to be safe and beneficial for younger patients, but caution should be exercised when treating chondral lesions in patients over 35 years of age.
