Examination of Eating Disorder Risk and Pathogenic Behaviors among Collegiate Student-Athletes

A study on 2,054 NCAA Division I and II student-athletes revealed that 25.3% were at risk of developing an eating disorder. Females showed a higher risk (28.9%) compared to males (17.3%). Significant differences in eating disorder risk were also found among females based on sport type. The study emphasizes the importance of education and prevention of eating disorders in college student-athletes.
