Pediatric ACL Reconstructions Surge: A Norwegian Study

The incidence of pediatric and adolescent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) has been increasing in Norway since 2005. The study analyzed data from 2005 to 2021 and found a 40% increase in ACLR cases for boys and a 55% increase for girls. There was a shift in the approach to concurrent meniscal procedures, with a significant increase in meniscal repairs compared to resection. Patient-reported outcomes showed long-lasting reduced knee function, and the 5-year revision rate was 9.9%.
