Social Support and Barriers for Older Women in Group Activity

Recommend Faculti to your resource manager

Solo seniors are more socially isolated. This population may face challenges to socializing through physical activity (PA). An investigation examined the experiences of single older women who attend group PA. Living alone gave some freedom, while others found it demotivating. Joining unknown social circles alone was difficult. These hurdles should be addressed and classes structured to encourage social involvement and support older individuals living alone.
